What does a business process cost per year, and how do I calculate it?

The annual cost of an activity is the product of four values: its duration per occurrence; its annual frequency; the hourly rate of the role that does it; that role's share. The process adds up its activities. In ArchiLU, the process record gives this cost by activity and by role.

Example: a 20-minute activity recurs 3,000 times a year, done entirely by a role whose hourly rate is €60. It costs €60,000 a year.

  • Durations and frequencies are entered on activities, hourly rates and shares on roles, in the “Complete the repository” case.
  • A role without a rate makes the cost “not calculable” and that role is named; no unknown counts as zero.
  • Your rules set which roles read hourly rates; other readers see aggregated costs.
